Boxing Day dippers

BRAVE souls who fancy a quick Boxing Day Dip should get cracking now.

So far, 30 plucky bathers have signed up to the wacky event, which attracts a crowd of delighted onlookers to Leven beach.

Participants don fancy dress and take a dip, but can look forward to a nip afterwards and free hot soup and drinks at the Caledonian Hotel.

Last year’s event raised a whopping £7000 for CLIC Sargent, a charity which provides vital support to children with cancer.

The Mail’s very own dipper, Viki Simpson (second right), said: ”It’s an essential part of Christmas now. There’s nothing better than plunging into freezing cold water on Boxing Day. It blows away the cobwebs!”

For more details and a sponsor form, call Ann Hughes at CLIC Sargent on 0141 572 5700. The 2012 event is at 1pm on December 26.
