Buckhaven community garden opened up

ENVIRONMENTAL concern group CLEAR has officially opened its ‘Bountiful Buckhaven’ community growing space at Burns Avenue.

The growing space had a formal opening last week, and local activist Mary Parry was invited along to do the honours.

An orchard of around 100, mainly Scots, trees has been planted, a polytunnel and shed set-up, and three individual allotment holders have now taken up their plots.

A fourth plot will be used for school groups.

CLEAR added that its tree planting season has finished, with new sites at Bield Braehead and the Globe Orchard created, as well as extended planting along footpaths and at the Ness Braes.
