LOTTERY money is helping a youth group network in the Kingdom work out the mechanics of a new venture.

Clubs for Young People (CYP) Fife has plugged in to a £10,000 grant from the Awards for All programme, to help it run a 30-week mechanical skills project for local young people.

The cash will fund safety clothing, mechanics’ fees, the use of a garage workship and safety equipment.

CYP chairman Paul Guyan, of Paul’s Garage in Aberhill, said: “The programme will allow us to help young people gain practical skills in mechanics and all-important social skills such as confidence, self-esteem and communication.”

Local councillor Ally Hunter added: “It’s really important we work with the young people around their interests and appreciate that learning should not be confined to the classroom. Cars and mechanics are really important to young people and this project has grown out of our young people’s interest.”

Mr Guyan, fourth left, is seen receiving the cheque from Cllr David Alexander at the recent presentation.
