Nominations are already coming in for the Fife Herald’s ‘Child of Courage’ award, to be presented to a local youngster who has shown courage in the face of adversity.

The award, announced last week, has been launched in conjunction with Cupar Children’s Gala.

The Fife Herald is asking the local community to nominate a youngster — of nursery, primary or secondary age — whom they think deserves this special award.

Our ‘Child of Courage’ can include any child who has shown courage in the face of adversity, be it illness, family difficulties, educational issues, or just someone who has made an outstanding contribution within their family, school or the wider community.

The recipient of the award will be presented with a trophy at Cupar Children’s Gala in the town’s Duffus Park on Saturday, June 2.

COMMUNITY

Herald editor Graeme Scott said: “The Fife Herald is at the heart of the north east Fife community and we are delighted to be able to show our support to the community of Cupar and district by annnouncing this award.

“We have featured the stories of many local children who have shown tremendous courage in the face of adversity and because of this, thought it appropriate to launch the award at Cupar Children’s Gala.”

Nominations should be made on the form below and returned to the Fife Herald office, George Inn Pend, Cupar, by Monday, May 21,or by emailing details of the child being nominated to heraldnews@fifetoday.co.uk, or at facebook.com/thefife herald.

The winner will be selected by an independent panel of judges and the recipient of the award will be notified in advance of the children’s gala.

n Any local business which would like to give their backing to the award should contact Lindsey Alexander at the Fife Herald, tel. 01334 658792 or email l.alexander@fifetoday.co.uk
