AN UNUSUAL trip to visit family has been generously combined with a gesture for local senior citizens.

Two friends, Richard Shaw and Jas Baillie, got on their bikes for London to gather cash for the Abbostford care home in Methil.

Richard, whose mother Agnes is a resident there, was planning a visit to London to see his daughter – and decided to go by bike.

He teamed up for the long ride with Fife Council janitor Jas to raise money for the home, while bosses also distributed sponsor sheets among staff and residents’ relatives.

The totals are still being counted but it’s thought they may have raised over £600 for the residents’ social fund.
