Kirkcaldy turns pink for Race For Life
THOUSANDS of Fife women joined a huge fight against cancer by taking part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life at Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy on Sunday.
More than 2100 people from toddlers to grannies covered the 5km course in a spectacular array of fairy wings, feather boas and fancy dress in every shade of pink imaginable.
Organisers this week said a heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part and urged them to return their sponsorship money as soon as possible to fund vital research into 200 types of cancer.
Gillian Forsyth, Race for Life event manager for Fife, said: “Race for Life in Kirkcaldy was a fantastic event and we are so very grateful to everyone who took part or supported our participants, as well as the wonderful volunteers who helped make the event happen.”
The event kicked off following a warm-up led by Zumba instructor Pam Spowart from Curves gym in Dunfermline.
Nine-year-old Noah Duncan, a cancer survivor from Rosyth, then sounded an air horn to start the event at 11.00 a.m.
