A CUPAR woman is well on her way to reaching her target of walking 500 miles!

Lisa Gilroy, of Millfield, aims to raise money for the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) in memory of her five-year-old god-son Jude Hunter who died suddenly on December 23 last year.

Lisa, who has three children of her own, said Jude died of an undiagnosed congenital heart and lung defect.

She said: “Up until that point he was an exceptionally bright but otherwise normal boy. My best friend Fiona and her husband David started walking to get out of the house when their older daughter Isla (7) went back to school. They reckon by half term they had walked around 500 miles just trying to make sense of it all. “They have remained remarkably positive and grateful for the time they had with their precious boy.”

To show the couple her support, Lisa (36) explained that she decided to walk 500 miles in 50 days.

WORTHY

She added: “I wanted them to know I was with them every step of the way. Fiona asked that I donate the money to Rachel House in Kinross because they had lots of happy stress free time with Jude before he died and other families are not so fortunate. It is a very worthy charity.”

So far Lisa has raised nearly £1500 and said she was very grateful that people had been so generous.

“Seeing all the messages of encouragementcoming in on the judtgiving website is brilliant. It’s difficult finding time to walk at least 10 miles a day on top of work, especially when mu husband Adam is away for such a lot if the time, but my family and friends have joined me along the way.”
