St Andrews library’is now a ‘drop-in’ point for Fife Constabulary.

The town’s police force has completed the move to its new base in Pipeland Road from its old headquarters in North Street.

Chief Inspector Jill Harper met up with Jennifer Taylor, team leader of Fife Council’s east area libraries, arts and museum archives, to make the final arrangements to continue to have a town centre presence following the transfer of operations.

The main library facility in Church Square is acting as a contact point - the police sign is prominently displayed in a window - where members of the public can speak to a police officer on a direct phone link.

The telephone is located on the ground floor of the library and the number for contacting St Andrews Police is unchanged at 0845 600 5702 or 999 in an emergency.

The new local headquarters at the one-time St Andrews Health Centre which opened to the public yesterday, will be officially unveiled next Wednesday during a formal ceremony.
