An all-day music gig featuring a number of local musicians, including former X Factor contestant Jade Richards, has helped raise in excess of £7000 for a young Methil girl whose family has been touched by tragedy.

Family and friends of Tracy Cairns, who passed away in November, aged 39, got together recently to organise the event which was held at The Venue, Methil.

Aiming to celebrate Tracy’s life, the gig was also organised to provide financial support for her three-year-old daughter Ellis Gray.

Over 350 paying audience members were entertained, from 2-11pm, by a variety of bands including The Ambulances, Ruthless Young Souls, Thirteen Thieves, Burn the Maps, David Kilgour as well as Ms Richards, who all played for free.

Speaking afterwards, organiser and performer David Kilgour said: “The experience was extremely rewarding, personally, professionally and socially.

“I wanted to put on a quality event so that people would get value for money whilst raising funds for wee Ellis. I organise quite a few little events but this was much more involved.

“I’m humbled by the generosity and the spirit of giving shown for Ellis.”

As well as door entry, local businesses offered sponsorship and a group of Adam Smith College students also helped make sure the day would run as smoothly as possible.

NC sound production students Mark Small, Mark Welsh, Grant Pow and HND student Duncan Aitken helped to set up PA systems with Michael Brennan from Fife’s Substation recording studio, who provided the PA. Keen to show their support for young Ellis the students gave up their time to offer their growing expertise, with Mr Brennan describing them as “a real credit to themselves and the college”.
