A KIRKCALDY pub is staging a special fundraising event to help a little Glenrothes girl to walk.

Charley’s Bar in Dunearn Drive will host a 60s and 70s music night on September 28 for the toddler.

Kayla Bird (2), was born in June 2010, 10 weeks premature. She suffered slight brain damage during her birth and as a result was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia, a form of Cerebral Palsy.

The condition affects Kayla’s muscles mainly from the hips down through her legs, and means she is unable to walk like other children her age.

Her parents Catherine Bird and Grant Neilson are fundraising to send their beloved daughter to America for a revolutionary form of treatment which could help her to walk.

Now Charley’s Bar in Templehall is staging the special fundraising night to help boost the fund.

It will take place on Friday, September 28, and will feature a night of 60s and 70s music, with two live bands Spectra, which Kayla’s grandad plays in and favourites Rockhammer, featuring guest vocalist Carol Lee and Indigo.

The £5 ticket price includes stovies, and tickets are available from Charley’s or by contacting Katie on 07506 033779.

All the money raised on the night will go to Kayla’s fund.
