A FIFE food business was serving up to 48 burger rolls in just 10 minutes to hungry music fans at T in the Park.

Throughout the festival weekend, over 4000 burgers were sold by the 12-strong team from Puddledub Buffalo, who were at the Balado event for a fifth year.

Steve Mitchell, owner of the company based at Clentrie Farm, Auchtertool, said: “We were based in the Healthy T area.

“Buffalo is a healthy meat as it is lower in cholesterol, higher in mineral content and less than half the total fat content of conventional lean beef, and this year, for the first time, we were also serving oven roasted potato wedges,

“The public appreciate what we have to offer, with the burgers being barbecued and made from proper meat. Good food is perhaps not something music festivals are renowned for.”

This year’s bad weather had an impact on business, with Steve adding, “We were hoping to beat our record set last year of 48 rolls in six minutes, but it wasn’t to be. However, we still had a good event. It’s one of our main events of the year and we meet a lot of new customers. It’s a younger audience to what we would normally meet at a farmers’ market, which tends to attract an older age group.”

Steve admitted he wasn’t a big music fan but loved the atmosphere at the festival, and was amazed at the resilience of everyone who stayed and had fun despite the rain and the mud.

Puddledub Buffalo will be at The Big Tent in Falkland on July 21 and 22, and will have a stand throughout the Edinburgh Festival, in George Street, outside the Assembly Rooms, where there will be an expected footfall of 10,000 people per day.

Looking ahead, the company is preparing to change its name from Puddledub Buffalo to Buffalo Farm.

Steve explained: “We’re based on the same farm as my aunt and uncle who run Puddledub Pork and sometimes the names cause a bit of confusion. But we’ll be keeping the Puddledub Buffalo as a product name.”
