Fife Renewables Innonvation Centre Methil

WITH an already growing reputation as a leading hub in the field of renewable energy, Methil has scored another first for ecological and environmentally friendly initiatives.

The new Fife Renewables Innovation Centre, at Methil Docks, is home to the Green Deal Advice Centre – the first Fife company to set up offices under a new flagship Government energy saving scheme.

Promoted by the Department of Energy and Climate Change, the Green Deal aims to let homes and businesses pay for energy-saving improvements, such as insulation, through savings on their fuel bills.

Most Green Deal upgrades are expected to reduce your heating bill because you’ll be using less electricity, gas or oil. Repayments are made through your electricity bill – because everyone has one.

To start with, a Green Deal assessor will visit your home, talk to you about your energy use and see if efficiency improvements to the property would help you.

You can obtain quotes for recommended improvements, then choose a Green Deal Provider to write up your Green Deal Plan.

Once that’s agreed, the Provider will arrange for the improvements to be made by a Green Deal Installer.

“This new scheme is very important for the public to know about,” said managing director at Methil, David Morrison.

“It is going to be revolutionary, as no up-front costs are involved.

“The measures installed range from insulation products to windows and boilers and LED lighting.

“Any product installed will have energy-saving benefits, so clients can benefit straight away.

“They will be warmer and so their health and wellbeing will be improved.”

Upgrades can cover windows, boilers, draught proofing, loft and wall insulation, and more.
