Relaunch of town centre shop security scheme
Leven High Street.
EFFORTS to make Leven’s town centre shopping area safer for customers and staff alike are to receive a fresh impetus.
To highlight the benefits of sharing information via radio links about possible shoplifting, and the benefit of uniformed police officers in the High Street area, Levenmouth’s community safety officer is relaunching a scheme involving the Levenmouth Business Forum.
PC Kevin Russell is inviting members of the 44-strong group to drop-in sessions on September 18 at the rear hall in Mcphail’s, North Street, to learn about various measures designed to combat theft by shoplifting.
Only around half the members are connected by radio link and PC Russell hoped to boost its usage once again, as well as informing members old and new about updated equipment and procedures.
These include correct radio use, information sharing between retailers and police, safer shopping guidance, personal safety advice, personal alarms for staff, self-defence courses, free commercial security surveys and ATM fraud awareness.
