Stark’s sizzling sausages launched with a bang
Scottish Federation of Meat Traders' Association president Billy McFarlane, left, congratulates Amos Smith, centre, and Joe Paterson.
IT might be a few weeks until bonfire night but one Buckhaven butcher’s preparations have already taken off like a rocket.
W. F. Stark, on College Street, has won a silver award, from the Scottish Craft Butchers Federation, for its inventively-themed sausages.
Owner Amos Smith and employee Joe Paterson created ‘piri piri Catherine wheels’ and ‘beef, cheese and onion rocket launchers’.
The butchers came up with the ideas after being invited to capture their customers’ imaginations by making products with a Hallowe’en and bonfire theme.
And the sizzling sausages obviously proved to be a real treat when they came before the judges in Dunfermline.
Recipes for their sausages will now be displayed at craft butchers throughout Scotland.
A spokesman for the competition said: “It was really good to see all the great product ideas come forward.
“I think we can look forward to seeing some real innovation in butchers’ shops this Hallowe’en and bonfire night.”
