YOUNG businessmen and women from Fife held a showcase event in Kirkcaldy last week to introduce themselves and their wares to other members of the business community and the public.

Around 20 firms took part in the event at Kirkcaldy’s Old Kirk, hosted by Youth Business Scotland and the Prince’s Trust which helped the young entrepreneurs embark on their business careers.

A number of local firms participated, including the Fun Food Company, Lindsay Kilpatrick Jewellery, CIA Kirkcaldy Ltd and Minmax Games from Kirkcaldy, which were all keen to speak to visitors to let them know about the goods and services they have to offer.

A wide range of business sectors were included, from traditional trades and creatives to security and marketing.

And youngsters from Kirkcaldy High School were also represented, letting people know about the work they have been doing through the Princes’ Trust to enhance their business and team-building skills.

Lindsay Hall (29), from Kirkcaldy told how a set up grant from the Princes Trust had helped her start her own business, Lindsay Kilpatrick Jewellery.

“I had been doing jewellery design as a hobby after leaving university, then, after speaking to someone from the Trust and getting a grant I was able to set up a workshop in my back garden and start it as a business.”

The event was opened by Councillor Jim Leishman, Provost of Fife, who said he was delighted to see the wealth of skills and talent on display.
