Picture perfect property offered to art lovers

MOST people who go to an art festival probably don’t even buy a painting of a house, never mind an actual one.

But that’s exactly what one property specialist has been trying to sell at the Pittenweem Arts Festival.

Among illustrators, painters and textile artists Pagan Osborne was one of the more unusual exhibitors at the week-long event, which finished on Sunday.

With an estimated 25,000 people visiting the village, the company set up a pop-up property shop in the heart of the High Street in a bid to bring their clients’ East Neuk homes to the market, rather than wait for the market to come to them.

And Linda Black, Fife property manager, said she was overwhelmed by the interest.

“On the first evening, we were only halfway through putting our property cards in the window and we already had an audience of people very interested to see about the region’s property,” she said.

“Our clients were very happy we were being so proactive in terms of marketing their properties and it was a great opportunity for us to connect with the community in Pittenweem and visitors to the festival.”

“The East Neuk is full of hidden gems and this was a novel way for us to unearth them and bring them to the attention of those who were looking to move to the area – whether that is to buy a holiday home, retire, become a resident artist or just use as a commuter base.”

In keeping with the event, the team also ran an art competition for children and displayed pictures in the window.

Pagan Osborne is planning another pop-up shop on August 25-26, this time in Elie.
