Diet reaches milestone

THE popular Fife Diet has reached another milestone.
After starting as an experiment amongst friends vowing to eat locally and evolving into a community project with hundreds of members it is now bidding to become the first ever grower of quinoa in Scotland.

The high protein grain is usually found in Peru and Bolivia, where 99 per cent of the world's production takes place, but Fife Diet project director Mike Small is hopeful he can grow it here and add it to the diet's expanding list of products despite the obvious differences in climate.
