DONATIONS made at the funeral of a murdered Fife disabled woman have been used to create a Garden of Reflection at the Kirkcaldy school where she was a pupil.
Michelle Thomson's mother, June, gave the £326 raised at her funeral to Rosslyn School where Michelle (25), who was killed with her young brother, Ryan, spent seven happy years of her school life.

The peaceful garden area, part of Rosslyn's extend
ed outdoor education space, was unveiled to family, friends and neighbours at a special open day which featured invited guests from other schools in the area.

"We decided to use the money given to us by Mrs Thomson to build a Garden of Reflection to commemorate pupils from the school who have passed away," explained headteacher Paul Meijer.

"We wanted its focal point to be a water feature, and Fife Council's building operations section came out and helped."

The names of four of the school's former pupils, including Michelle, have been painted on special heart shaped stones.

"It is just a special part of the outdoor area where people, can go to remember them and the good times they shared with us at Rosslyn School," added Mr Meijer.

As well as the garden area, a £10,000 grant from the National Lottery's Awards for All and funding from Fife Council, has helped the school create the extended play area with swings and a roundabout specially built for use with wheelchairs.
