Neuk groups in plea for filling facility

THE absence of a petrol station in Pittenweem has continued to cause concern for the East Neuk's community councils.
At a recent group meeting, the councils voiced their concerns that, with the hope of a good summer season just around the corner, the lack of fuel on the coastal roads could hinder visitors.

The councils says they are worried that if people have to drive out of Pittenweem to buy fuel then they may choose to stay out of the area completely and not use other amenities.

Previously Pittenweem had a petrol station and convenience store on James Street which was owned by the Dolphin retail chain.

However, earlier this year, the chain closed 22 of its outlets blaming a "financial crisis" with Pittenweem being one of those affected.
