A MEETING about the dreaded 'Methil Ming' has been hailed as constructive by Tricia Marwick MSP.
She met officials from Scottish Water on Friday about the smells reported by residents coming from Levenmouth Waste Water Treatment Works.

Mrs Marwick, who has led concerns on behalf of the residents, said: "For the first time I think that Scotti
sh Water is taking the concerns of the residents of Levenmouth seriously.

"I am pleased it is now committed to finding a solution to a problem which has been ongoing for years.

The authority has now confirmed it will keep in touch with people logging complaints about the smell.

Scottish Water officials also confirm they intend to have regular meetings with the operators of the plant, SEPA and Fife Council's Environmental Health department.

Mrs Marwick added: "I would urge all residents who are affected by the smell to get in touch immediately with Scottish Water at 0845 601 8855 and I am assured that their complaints will be investigated.

"We have come a long way as Scottish Water now accepts there is a problem and while a solution may take some time, we at least have the assurance that Scottish Water and the operators of the plant will no longer ignore it and the concerns of the people of Levenmouth."
