VISITORS are continuing to flock to Kirkcaldy Museum and Art Gallery, with numbers rocketing by 44.7 per cent since 2005.
In 2007, 57,221 people visited the museum, compared to only 39,528 three years ago.

And with a massive boost in 2006 from a Jack Vettriano exhibition, the museum has continued to draw visitors in, with a number of great exhibitions and events.

Museum co-ordinator Dallas Mechan is very pleased with their continued success.

She said: "We are very happy that the figures are up once again, and I think there are a number of factors which contributed to our success.

"One of the high points of last year was the very popular 'Anne Frank + You' exhibition which began at the start of last year and drew in a lot of visitors, including school groups, which boosted our figures in January.

"However, we want to maintain this momentum and have a number of great events planned for this summer.

''We have a lot of visitors who come back regularly but there are many new faces coming through the doors too."

The museum is going back in time in July with a exhibition called 'Roman Holiday', which will showcase exciting hands-on features and events, including a visit from living history Roman re-enactment group, The Antonine Guard.

A number of other Fife tourist attractions noted a positive increase in numbers.

In 2007, 11,492 visitors passed through Aberdour Castle - 32 per cent more than in 2005.
