  • Dysart museum to stay open
  • Savings to be made elsewhere
FOUR Fife libraries and a museum in Dysart look set to remain open, just months after it was announced they had to close to save £92,000.
Colinsburgh, East Wemyss, Pitteuchar and Thornton libraries, as well as the John McDouall Stuart Museum in Dysart, were all scheduled to close in October after the previous Fife Council administration decided in February they should be shut to save cash.

However, the current Council announced this week they hope to grant these facilities a reprieve and find the cash elsewhere.

Now, if councillors agree, there will be no interruption to services of these libraries and museum.

Head of community services Steve Grimmond compiled a report which was due to be presented to members of the policy, finance and asset management committee today (Thursday).

He said: "Following the administration's announcement that they were reprieving these closures and seeking to identify the required resources elsewhere, community services have suspended the moves towards closure, with a view to ensuring continued operation through summer and into the future.

"It is now anticipated that there will be no interruption to services from these library and museum locations."
