The three-part 'Wear the Fox Hat' festival got underway in September with a weekend of mirth at the Victoria Hall, and another host of high calibre acts have been confirmed for the second stage, to be held at the same venue on November 27 and 28.

Headlining the series of shows will be the acclaimed stand-up comedian Phil Kay.

Described as a "mesmerising genius", the Scottish surrealist has recently completed a successful run at the Soho Theatre in London and will be supported by broadcaster and comedian Susan Morrison.

Rising star Billy Kirkwood and musical duo Lazyhand complete the line-up, which the organisers say is the equal of the best comedy clubs in the country.

Promoter Ian Harrower told the Fife Herald: "Part one went down a storm — a lot of people were telling us that the standard was as good as you'd see in Edinburgh or Glasgow, which we were really chuffed about.

"We made the line-up as varied as possible so that there would be something for everyone, and we've tried to do that again with part two.

"We're learning about the subtleties of comedy audiences and putting together a comedy event, so hopefully the standard of the shows will get even better."

Ian also revealed that there are plans to continue the festival on a bi-monthly basis after February's third part.

He added: "One of our main aims is to bring great entertainment to rural areas in Scotland.

"We think that if people know there's a high quality show in their village every couple of months, they'll be inclined to turn up regularly."

The 'Wear the Fox Hat' festival was named in honour of a 1999 television beer commercial starring American actor Robb Pruitt, which mentions Auchtermuchty.
