THEY say the truth is out there, and a new book promises to lift the lid on north east Fife's most incredible UFO sighting.
Extra-terrestrial expert Malcolm Robinson's book, 'The UFO Case Files of Scotland', covers six of the country's most famous incidents, including one that took place near Newton of Falkland.

In what the author describes as "an amazing case", two local families claimed to have seen a landed object and hundreds of small beings in woods near the village.

Malcolm explained: "On the evening of September 23, 1996, a woman was driving from Falkland to Freuchie with her 10-year-old son and one of her friends to buy a jar of coffee.

"They noticed a large, black, motionless object in the sky, and on the way back a similar object shot over their car.

"At home, the woman's friend described the incident to her own teenage daughter, and they all set out again in the car to investigate.

"As they approached a wooded area near Newton of Falkland, they saw what they described as Second World War search lights coming from the trees.

"These red and green lights were joined by a large blue light, which appeared in front of the trees."

According to Malcolm's description, the events that followed have made this incident one of the most famous in UFO circles.

"Hundreds of small, grey beings emerged from the trees carrying boxes," he said.

"Some of them were said to be surrounded by a bubble.

"With both families terrified, the woman sped home straight away."

Now known as the 'Fife Incident', this sighting is one of the few to remain unidentified, with most having a mundane explanation.

Malcolm (51) has been investigating UFO sightings for over 30 years and was the founder of Scotland's oldest paranormal society, Strange Phenomena Investigations.
