GREEN-fingered Cuparians are putting the final touches to the town's floral displays as 'judgement day' approaches in the 2008 Beautiful Scotland campaign.
Judges will be visiting the town on Tuesday, August 12, to assess this year's efforts by Cupar in Bloom, who are hoping for glory in the medium town category of the event.

Cupar in Bloom chairman, Mary Law, said: "The town is looking very colourful at present, with all the hanging baskets, planters and tubs in full bloom.

"Added to this are the colourful beds of flowers created by Fife Council, and many lovely private gardens.

"All that is needed now is to ensure that the town is looking its cleanest, with no litter, dog fouling or rubbish of any kind around."

Collessie and Kinnesswood are both being judged today (Friday) in the Beautiful Scotland small village and clachan categories respectively.

Meanwhile Falkland, which last year scooped the Best Village Shield, Rosebowl Reserve Trophy and Large Village Trophy, is digging for victory on a national level and is up against some of the UK's most colourful communities in the Britain in Bloom awards.

The eight Scottish entries also include Scotlandwell, which last year won the Beautiful Scotland CIWM Scottish Centre Cleanliness Award.

Winners in the Beautiful Scotland competition will be presented with their awards at a ceremony in Musselburgh on September 17.
