PEOPLE in Collessie have been given the opportunity to find out how to reduce energy waste in their homes.
In the first of a series of events, the North Howe Transition Toun (NHTT) invited residents to the village hall on Saturday to launch its energy efficiency 'Toolkit'.
NHTT is sending toolkits to all homes in the group's area, which takes in Letham, Monimail, Bow of Fife, Collessie, Giffordtown and Charlottetown.
Part of the Carbon Reduction in Buildings (CaRB) project, the 'Toolkit' includes 40 tips to help people save energy and money, and has been drawn up following a survey of residents in the area.
A survey carried out by NHTT revealed that 60 per cent of homes in the area were built before 1900, and 70 per cent of people do not have mains gas.
Those who attended Saturday's event were able to quiz experts on energy loss, get advice on grants and collect a thermal image of their home to illustrate how much heat can escape, particularly from older properties.
Future initiatives may include a biomass energy station, and harnessing windpower locally to feed into the national grid.
