A NEW bus service which aims to link the Howe of Fife with Kirkcaldy and Dundee has been criticised for not stopping in two villages at the heart of the area.
Stagecoach's X42 service enjoyed a high profile launch with thousands of timetables being distributed throughout north east Fife during the last couple of weeks.
Timetables have even gone through letterboxes in Kingskettle and Kettle-bridge — despite the service not stopping there.
Instead, residents have to travel to either Ladybank or Freuchie if they wish to catch the bus.
A Kingskettle resident who didn't want to be named, said that while it wasn't too far to travel to either Ladybank or Freuchie to get the bus if they really wanted to, it was ironic that Stagecoach had posted flyers through doors for a service people can't use directly.
A spokesperson for Stagecoach in Fife said: "The new X42 service travels through, and makes a number of stops in, the Howe of Fife.
"However, similar to other express services, it was designed as a limited stop route to reduce the overall journey time, which is made clear in the timetable."
