THE Howe of Fife's new community officer will bring 24 years of policing experience to the role.
PC Ian Laing, who is also an experienced wildlife liaison officer, will cover all of the Howe villages including Falkland, Newton of Falkland, Freuchie, Ladybank, Newburgh, Strathmiglo, Auchtermuchty and Gateside.

Since taking up his post he has visited several of the area's primary schools and helped arrange the installation of a 'Domehawk' camera at Auchtermuchty Primary School to assist in tackling underage drinking in the school grounds.

He has also been involved in a proposal for goal posts at Falkland near the primary school and carried out speeding checks in a number of villages after concerns were raised at community council meetings.

PC Laing said he looked forward to working closely with the Howe of Fife communities.

"I see my main role as responding to community issues at a very local level seeking to tackle underage drinking, dealing with anti-social youth disorder through areas such as diversion schemes and looking to engage closely with the young people within our communities," he said.

"Being there for communities is the cornerstone of my role as a community officer."
