NORTH East Fife MSP, Iain Smith, has been re-selected as the Liberal Democrat party's candidate for the next Scottish Parliament election in 2011.
Mr Smith was unanimously backed by the membership when North East and Central Fife Liberal Democrats held their AGM in Cupar.
His re-selection was proposed by North East Fife MP, Sir Menzies Campbell, who spoke of Mr Smith's "service, dedication and great skill" in representing his constituents in the Scottish Parliament.
Sir Menzies, who is fighting the next General Election, anticipated to take place in the spring of next year, said that he was "looking forward to the election campaign as it is a great opportunity to demonstrate the Liberal Democrat values that have never been more important to the country."
Mr Smith thanked the membership for their unanimous vote of confidence, and said that he was looking forward to campaigning with Sir Menzies at the next General Election.
Harry Wills was re-elected as convener of the party and Dr Derek Barrie was re-elected as one of the two vice-conveners.
Others elected were Councillor Tim Brett as the second vice convener; Cathy Adamson as party administrator; Jane Ann Liston as policy convener; David Riches as treasurer; and Jane Kerr as fund-raising convener.
