OUR soldiers shoebox appeal drew officially to an end last week, but the tale goes on.
Our last batch of parcels was sent away by the charity Parcels4Troops on Thursday.

Soldiers and army wives helped pack the final boxes at Leven army cadets detachment.

But in a strange twist, a van containing over 400 shoeboxes was dispatched to the Glenrothes Gazette office on Thursday after Stirlingshire MSP, Keith Brown, stepped in to save the day for a group of Alloa pensioners.

The pensioner's club managed to fill the boxes for the soldiers but did not know how to get them to Afghanistan.

Mr Brown, MSP, and his staff rushed to deliver the Alloa shoeboxes to Glenrothes in time for our final pick-up by the charity.
