AFTER many years of absence the silver screen is set to return to Glenrothes this Friday (27th).

Local moviegoers have had to travel to the Dunfermline Odeon multiplex since the picture house in Church Street closed and with the recession hitting hard, the demand for a cinema in Glenrothes has been growing.

After a recently public meeting, the Glenrothes Community Cinema Group was born after a campaign by Tricia Marwick MSP and David Nelson.

The group will hold its first screening, Disney adventure movie G-Force, at the Rothes Halls this Friday at 7pm and admission is free.
All the group asks for in return is an empty jam jar, which they will collect for recycling.
