GLENROTHES will not receive any money from the Scottish Government's Town Centre Regeneration Fund.
It was revealed on Friday that Fife Council's bid for £2m of funding had been unsuccessful.
The news was met with disappointment from, among others, Glenrothes MP Lindsay Roy.
He said: "It is extremely disappointing that the SNP government has not supported the bid for Glenrothes regeneration, particularly after the adverse publicity earlier in the year about the town centre."
Tricia Marwick MSP commented: "I'm obviously disappointed but not surprised Glenrothes wasn't successful in its bid for some of the Town Centre Regeneration Fund. As I said at the time and I continue to say, the bid wasn't good enough. So I'm not surprised that it failed."
Peter Grant, Fife Council leader, said: "£60m was not a lot of money to go around. It's unfortunate a few town centres are happy and a few are left unhappy."
