A GLENROTHES scout hall is in danger of closing down unless money can be raised to repair its damaged roof.
The Woodside Scout Hall behind Target Tyres, off Woodside Road, has been there since 1962, but has recently fallen into disrepair, with the roof in particular being a problem.
Scout leader at Woodside, Brian Henderson, explained said: ''One part
of it has been on-going for a while, since we got broken into in 2003 and the insurance never sorted the roof properly. But we've noticed it more in the last six months.
"The roof is getting worse overall with the snow melting and we are seeing damp patches and plaster boards are falling away."
He said: "If it gets any worse I think we will have to close the hall."
Mr Henderson hopes it never comes to trying to find a new home for the Woodside Scouts, as it will also effect the local community.
He said: "If the roof got too bad we would need to do some sort of remedial repair but I'm against that, as it needs to be done properly. If we did close we would have to rent space from a school or something. That would be the worst case scenario.
"The snow has really hit us bad and if it's the same again next year it will be bad. It's going to be a tough year.
"Other groups use the hall too, so it will have a major impact on the community if we have to close the hall."
