A SON of Glenrothes has returned from military duties in Kenya.
Former Glenrothes soldier Fusilier Liam Duncan, 21, whose parents still resident in the town, returned from a gruelling military exercise in based in the country.

Liam, a member of the Penicuik-based The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, spent six-weeks on a training exercise to prepare the Battalion for overseas deployments.

Liam said: "It was very hot during the exercise and the conditions basic, but it was exactly the right environment for us to train in as it is so similar to Afghanistan, and other parts of the world where we will be expected to deploy."
