The long-running brass band is hoping to encourage talented local musicians to join them to represent the Glenrothes paper mill.
This new recruitment drive is aimed at adults who have perhaps played a musical instrument in the past, maybe at schoo
l and had to give it up, but would like to take up music again.
Adults who have never played an instrument before but who would like the opportunity to be taught now will also be welcomed.
Steven Craig from the Tullis Russell Mills Band revealed what kind of people they are looking for.
He said: "All we need is adults with some free time on a Tuesday evening and the willingness to try something different, we are confident we can have them making music very quickly.
"People will be very surprised at how quick they will pick things up even if they have never played a brass instrument before."
Mr Craig explained what type of musicians they are after and why people should join.
He said: ''We are talking about all brass instruments, clarinets, bass etc. We want to start a second band as it would be good to have new people coming through.
"It's a great experience being part of this band, it has played all over, including three or four times at the Royal Albert Hall.''
Mr Craig said: "We hope to launch a youth band soon as well so it's thinking toward the long-term future of the band. We will need these feeder bands as most of us aren't getting any younger. I started in 1972 and I have enjoyed it ever since.''
The Tullis Russell Mills Band celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2009 and has been involved in many of the historical events connected with the town of Glenrothes, including the town's 60th birthday celebrations.
An open night to launch the new adult learner band has been organised for the Tuesday 19 January at 7.30pm Register interest at www.trmb.co.uk
