WOMEN who’ve been treated for breast cancer have embarked on a great advent-ure.

Members of the Brest Friends Group have disrobed, ‘Calendar Girls’ style, for a special 2012 photo shoot.

Their charity calendar was launched on the opening day of advent and first day of December, at Maggie’s Victoria Hospital base in Kirkcaldy.

The Brest Friends Group features women from Levenmouth and elsewhere in Fife, who have had breast cancer treatment, or who may still be undergoing care for the condition.

All proceeds are going to Maggie’s Fife cancer care centre, where the ladies hold their monthly meetings, after some members decided to shed their clothes and pose for the calendar images – themed for each month – to raise cash.

They also hold regular fund-raising and information-sharing events, to support each other and increase awareness of the condition.

Local businesses were very generous in backing the venture, with a number of firms sponsoring the individual months. Donations of paper and printing services were provided by Tullis Russell and Barr Printers, while photographer Debbie Dickson also gave her services, and the ladies’ hair and make-up were done free of charge for the picture sessions.

More information on how to order copies of the calendars, and where to obtain them, is available from one of the Levenmouth members, Elaine Kirk, on 0784 006 2691, and Maggie’s Fife on 01592 647997.
