Reaching the dizzy heights of a job as a television news reader may be the wish of many but for former Adam Smith College Radio Broadcasting student Caroline Henderson it’s a dream come true.
Caroline is now a familiar face on STV’s 6 O’Clock News where she keeps viewers up-to-date with the latest from the world of sport and interviews a range of individuals from sporting celebrities and managers to players and fans.
The 26-year-old joined the STV news team in October last year and was then picked to be part of the ‘new look’ STV show which changed its format in April this year.
Caroline always knew that journalism and broadcasting was right for her and at 16 left school to study Media Production and later an HNC in Radio Broadcasting at the former Glenrothes College, which merged with Fife College to create Adam Smith College.
Said Caroline: “To be a successful television journalist these days your really need to be an all rounder and have skills not just in reading the news but to research and write the commentary, film and interview single handed – gone are the days of big crews being sent out with reporters.
“I really enjoyed my time at college and often call upon the skills I learned years ago in my job today,” she said.
