A KIRKCALDY student is preparing to take a leap of faith this summer to help raise money for charity.

Laura Armstrong will complete a skydive at Fife Airport in Glenrothes this August to fundraise for forces charity Help for Heroes.

The cause is something close to Laura’s heart and she wanted to do something to help the charity.

The 20-year-old explained: “I have got family in the services and the charity is a good cause and they do some really good work.

“I wanted to do something to help them.”

Laura has set herself an £800 fundraising target for the jump but says she’ll just be happy to raise as much as she can for the charity.

The Abertay student has the backing of her friends and family for this, her first fundraiser and first skydive.

“My mum and dad are really proud of me,” she says, “but my dad’s a bit nervous of coming to watch me doing it.

“They are happy to support me.

“It’s my first time doing it, but I’ve always wanted to give it a bash so thought I’d do it for the charity.

“I’m a bit nervous, but very excited too.”

Laura is set to take to the skies on August 5, depending on the weather that day.
