THE co-owner of one of north east Fife’s most popular restaurants is to host a fund-raising dinner in aid of a close friend recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.

Grant Hughes, who runs the Kingarroch Inn in Craigrothie with his brother Paul, is holding the event next Thursday, June 14.

His friend Greg Patience (32), from Edinburgh, has the chance of extending his life if he undergoes pioneering dentritic cell treatment in Germany at a cost of £70,000.

Greg got married in March and is expecting his first child in three weeks.

The event at the Kingarroch will include a fabulous five-course dinner with Prosecco and wine, and all ingredients and wines have been generously donated by Grant’s suppliers.

There will also be a raffle, with fantastic prizes donated by local businesses.

Grant said: “This is a great opportunity for everyone to do their bit for Greg and his family.

“We were all devastated by the news, but we have taken great inspiration from Greg’s fighting spirit and resolve.

“It’s a great cause and would make such a difference to Greg and his family’s lives, and we really hope it’s a sell-out evening.”

Tables for the dinner can be booked by calling the Kingarroch on 01334 828237.

Donations can also be made online at www.gregpatiencefc.com
