One of the most popular local bands of the early 1960s were the Andy Ross Orchestra.

They were perhaps best known for being the house band at the Raith Ballroom, opening for and backing the featured acts.

This picture, handed in by saxophonist Jimmy Murphy - still going strong at 89 - was taken in 1963 shortly before arguably the band’s most famous moment, supporting The Beatles at the Carlton Cinema!
