Looking back: Glenrothes Children’s Ballet 1974

Lots of excited young faces in this look back into the archives.

Taken more than 40 years ago, it shows the members of Glenrothes Children’s Ballet who had been showing off their talents at a concert held in Markinch Town Hall, which had been organised as a fundraising event for Save the Children.

While the young dancers in front are resplendent in the costumes more associated with ballet, others at the back suggest the event had a broader programme of entertainment than purely a ballet display.

Now, four decades later, many of these enthusiastic youngsters could well be watching their own children, or even grandchildren, performing at local dance shows.
