MSP Tricia Marwick has welcomed proposals to increase the amount of affordable housing stock in West Glenrothes.
Mrs Marwick said there are plans to introduce a number of houses and flats on the sites of former maisonette blocks in Caskieberran and Tanshall.
These proposals, taken forward by Kingdom Housing Association in partnership with Fife Council, include 15 affordable social rent properties on the former maisonette block at 80-103 Abbotsford Drive. Construction of a further ten affordable social rent properties at 34-57 Cawdor Drive are already underway and this project is due to be completed by October this year.
Mrs Marwick said: “It is most welcome to learn that plans are in place to construct more affordable housing in West Glenrothes. Housing remains the most important issue in Glenrothes. It is the most common topic that constituents of mine contact me about. There are significant pressures on the housing stock in Glenrothes and projects like these in the West of the town can only help alleviate this situation.
“As the constituency MSP for the town, I have worked hard to assist the regeneration of West Glenrothes. This includes the introduction of the new dental centre at Glenwood and my efforts to ensure the empty block of maisonettes at Abbotsford Drive were demolished as soon as possible.”
Anyone interested in being housed in these properties should make sure that they have applied to the Fife Housing Register.
