If sparks can fly on E Street then they can also ignite The Pleasance Theatre on a cold January night as The Springsteen Sessions kicked off 2015 with a cracking live gig.
Opening with ‘She’s the One’ - a song I don’t think I’ve even heard Springsteen play live - they made deep inroads to his back catalogue from ‘Rosalita’ to ‘Land Of Hope And Dreams’, and built up a fair head of steam in doing so.
The Pleasance was busy too, underlining the enduring appeal of the music - and the enjoyment of seeing and hearing it played live by a top notch band.
All the biggies were in there too - a cracking ‘Jungleland’, ‘Born To Run’, ‘Thunder Road’ to name but three - with a hefty slice of the ‘Born In The USA’ album to get folk up and out of their seats.
From the sheer exuberance of ‘Glory Days’ to the reflective, almost mournful ‘My Hometown’ the Springsteen Sessions more than do justice to the songs.
And they have fun doing it too ...
The Springsteen Sessions play the Village Theatre, East Kilbride, on Saturday.
