Burntisland resounded to the sound of 20 massed pipe bands at the weekend when it hosted its second Pipe Band Championships.

The competition, featuring bands from around Scotland as well as one from New Zealand, across for the Scottish championships this weekend, was held on the town’s Links in good weather.

It attracted a good crowd of spectators to see the Police Scotland Fife band crowned Grade 1 champions.

John Hughes, chairman of the Lothian, Borders and South Fife Branch of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, said: “This event is starting to establish itself on the calendar and has grown this year. It went very well.”
