A METHIL teenager has been selected to take part in this summer’s Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo as a dancer.
Kirkland High School third year pupil Lauren Duncan (15) will be performing with The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo Highland Dance troupe in the capital up to five times a week during the show’s August run.
Her mum, Sharon Duncan, said both Lauren and the rest of the family were delighted.
She added: “She is absolutely buzzing. I feel it is a big achievement, especially at her age, and with it being the Diamond Jubilee year as well.”
Lauren, who is a member of the Sarah Hendry School Of Highland Dance in Glenrothes, was the only Levenmouth pupil selected at auditions in February, though she will have the company of fellow dancers from Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy, who also made the grade.
Mrs Duncan continued: “We are hoping to organise a minibus or something for them to travel through and she gets two tickets to a preview night, so we will get to see here dance.”
With this year being the Jubilee year the troupe is likely to be invited to a number of other events as well as the Tattoo.
They have already signed up to perform at the Glasgow Mela Festival on June 23-24 and appeared on ITV morning programme Daybreak, in a feature filmed at Edinburgh Castle, on Monday.
Mrs Duncan added: “She had to be there at 5.30am so was up at 3.30am but she had a great day and was seen on TV.”
