WITH less than a week to go until T in the Park, the normally tranquil communities of Kinross-shire are gearing up for their annual ‘invasion’ of music fans.
From Thursday onwards, around 85,000 people will flock to Balado to savour the unique atmosphere of what has become one of the world’s premier music festivals.
Literally hundreds of performers will play over the weekend across seven main stages and covering every possible musical genre.
The campsite opens on Thursday, July 4, so those with camping tickets can enjoy an extra day of festival fun. Entertainment includes the campsite cinema screen, showcasing retro and modern movie classics, and a full-scale fairground.
The music begins in earnest on Friday, July 5, with Snow Patrol, Tinie Tempah, New Order, Florence and the Machine, Professor Green, Olly Murs, Cher Lloyd, The Darkness and the Kaiser Chiefs among the impressive line-up.
The Stone Roses are headlining on Saturday, topping off a day that includes performances by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Jessie J, Emeli Sandé, Simple Minds and Amy Macdonald. Later additions to the line-up include Bo Bruce, the aristocrat who made her name on The Voice.
The festival reaches its climax on Sunday with performances from an eclectic mix of bands including Swedish House Mafia, Elbow, Keane, The Wanted, Happy Mondays, McFly, Orbital, and, topping the bill, Kasabian.
And for the first time ever, classical music comes to ‘T’ with a performance by violinist Nicola Benedetti.
With over 200 artists performing across 11 stages, the festival consistently boasts the biggest bands, cutting edge DJ’s and best breakthrough acts.
