With internationally acclaimed duo The Proclaimers headlining next month’s Big Tent Festival, it’s not surprising that Fife has plenty more to offer by way of talent that has made it onto this year’s festival bill.

Organisers have kept a chunk of the festival music bill aside for local talent so that up and coming and established Fife acts have a chance to shine at this year’s event.

With such a high profile Big Tent provides local acts with a national platform on which to showcase their talents to a wider audience.

TALENT

Lion Spirit, The Stag Sessions, Coaltown Daisies, Das Contras and singer songwriter Finn Anderson have all secured slots at Big Tent this year where Havana Swing and Scottish children’s performer Dennis Alexander will be joining them.

With more than 30 top class acts booked to appear at this year’s event, various styles of music from traditional to indie, folk to funk are all represented on what is believed to be one of the festival’s most eclectic line-ups ever.

Festival producer, Ian Harrower said: “Sourcing local is a philosophy we try to weave through the whole production of Big Tent from food through to fencing.

“So from headliners, The Proclaimers and across both of our live stages over the weekend there is a strong Fife flavour and we are very fortunate to be able to tap in to the brilliant creative talent that is on our doorstep.”

Young singer songwriter Finn Anderson from Newport is one of those who has been given a slot at this year’s Big Tent.

He said: “Big Tent is the biggest festival in Fife and one of the most established.

“I am excited to be playing at Big Tent and it is great that young local artists like me are given the opportunity to be part of the festival.

“It’s brilliant to be on a bill with the likes of The Proclaimers and Salsa Celtica — such a privilege and a real opportunity for me and my fellow artists to raise our profile.
