A YOUNG Dairsie mum recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis is to don her pinny next Friday, May 4, to help raise funds for the charity she says has been a ‘fantastic’ support.
Amy Sutherland (34) is taking part in the MS Society’s national Cake Break campaign by hosting an event in Dairsie Village Hall between 2pm and 5pm.
She’ll have the support of her children Ruaridh (7) and Chrissy (9), who have organised a March for MS on the same afternoon at Dairsie Primary School, where they’re both pupils.
Amy said: “It was shock to be diagnosed with MS last year, but the local group were fantastic in providing me with crucial information at the time of diagnosis.
“They helped my husband and me explain what MS is to Chrissy and Ruaridh by providing a fantastic book called ‘Our Mum Makes the Best Cakes’.
“In return, I wanted to raise awareness of MS and Cake Break provides the perfect opportunity to do this whilst also raising much needed funds.”
As well as lots of cakes, Friday’s event will feature games, raffles and other attractions.
Cake Break is the MS Society’s main fund-raising event, and last year raised £23,000 in Scotland.
