Rehearsals are well under way for the first production to be delivered by Levenmouth’s newest youth musical theatre group.
LAMA Youth, formed under the umbrella of Leven Amateur Musical Association, the oldest musical theatre association in Scotland, will stage a showcase called ‘Power of the Dream’ at the Centre, Leven from September 20-22.
The group comprises 35 young people from across Levenmouth, aged from 10 to 18, some of whom will be treading the boards for the very first time.
The showcase will include a selection of songs from popular musicals of recent times, including West End favourites such as ‘The Lion King’.
The young people themselves have been involved in choosing the songs and each member of the group will have the opportunity to shine in the showcase.
Nigel Orkney, convenor of LAMA Youth, said: “LAMA Youth presents a fantastic opportunity to nurture and develop the creative talents of young people in the area.
“We have been very impressed by the potential on show already, and the group is excited at the prospect of its first ever production in September.”
“This is a new venture for the association this year but we are looking to the future and hoping that, by encouraging young people to get involved in LAMA Youth, we can also build a new generation of performers who can safeguard the long-term future of Leven Amateur Musical Association.”
Tickets for ‘Power of the Dream’ are available from The Centre, Commercial Road, Leven, between 7pm and 9pm every Tuesday evening.
Or, if you wish, they can also be obtained by emailing email@example.com.
