Fife Council’s Social Work Staff have been celebrating the 104th birthday of one of their home care users.
Miss Mary Gardner turned 104 on the 11 September and is still able to live independently with the care and support of Fife Council’s Home Care Service.
Mary said: “The care I receive from Fife Council’s Social Work Home Care Service is very good and all the carers that help me are very polite and professional.
“I look forward to seeing the carers on a daily basis, as I would not be able to remain in my own home without their assistance.
“I have lived in this house since I was three years old and it has lots of fond memories.”
Home carer Carol Alexander has been supporting Miss Gardner for the past twelve years.
She said: “Miss Gardner started receiving a home care service in August 1991 and I have been attending to her since December 1999.
“She’s a lovely lady and we get on really well.”
Steve Mckenna, home care manager, added: “We are delighted to be able to share in celebrating the 104th birthday of Miss Gardner.
“It is so important for people to remain in their own homes for as long as possible and to live independently and, I am glad that we are able to support her to do this.
“The home carers who visit Miss Gardner and many other older people in Fife take a real pride in delivering the best service possible.”
